Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
π The Best Things to See & Do at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
If you love Disney and Halloween, there may not be a better combination than Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom! ππ»
On select nights during the fall, Magic Kingdom transforms into a Halloween celebration filled with special entertainment, rare character appearances, trick-or-treating, Halloween treats, spooky attraction experiences, and some of the most memorable nighttime entertainment Disney offers.
And because the party is only a few hours long, having a plan is key!
I look my own kids to the September 28, 2026, MNSSHP at Magic Kingdom. Here are the experiences I recommend putting at the top of your must-do list.
π» 1. Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade
If you only have time for one party entertainment offering, make it the Boo-To-You Parade!
This isn't your everyday Disney parade. You'll see Mickey and Minnie dressed in their Halloween costumes, Disney villains, spooky characters, and some wonderfully creepy residents from the Haunted Mansion.
And then there's the moment many Disney fans wait for...
π The Headless Horseman!
The Headless Horseman traditionally leads the parade through Magic Kingdom before the floats arrive, making this one of the most iconic moments of the entire evening.
The parade runs twice during the party, giving you an opportunity to choose between the two performances. For 2026, Disney lists performances at 8:15 p.m. and 11:15 p.m.
My tip: If you're willing to stay up late, the second parade can sometimes be a great option for families who want to use the earlier part of the evening for characters, rides and trick-or-treating. However, we found the crowds on Main Street to be quite manageable during the first parade. We even had front row (okay, curb lol) seats.
π§♀️ 2. Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
Calling all Hocus Pocus fans!
The Sanderson Sisters are back at Cinderella Castle for the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular.
Winifred, Mary and Sarah take over the castle stage and summon some of Disney's most infamous villains for a high-energy Halloween party featuring music, dancing, projections and special effects.
You'll even see villains including Dr. Facilier, Oogie Boogie and Maleficent.
This is one of those shows that I would absolutely put on your party itinerary—especially if you're traveling with older kids, teens or adults who grew up watching Hocus Pocus. We actually watched BOTH shows this year. If you can make it to midnight, it's a great way to wrap up your party experience!
π 3. Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular
Ready for Halloween fireworks?
Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular combines fireworks, projections, lasers, music and a spooky story hosted by none other than Jack Skellington.
Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy find themselves in a mysterious haunted house where they encounter ghosts, skeletons and Disney villains.
It's spooky...
But still very Disney!
The 2026 show is scheduled for 10:00 p.m., so make sure you know where you want to watch it before the fireworks begin.
Planning tip: If seeing the fireworks is a priority, don't wait until the last minute to find a viewing spot. The area in front of the castle gets VERY packed-- I prefer to stay near the outskirts of the main hub so my kids have more space to move (and it helps us get back to the rides faster after the show has ended). Don't forget to pack ear plugs if anyone in your group is sensitive to fireworks-- a couple of fireworks also go off during the Villain show!
π¬ 4. Go Trick-or-Treating!
Yes, adults can trick-or-treat at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, too!
Party guests can travel throughout Magic Kingdom collecting candy at designated trick-or-treat locations.
Disney has more than a dozen opportunities to collect treats throughout the park.
You'll receive a trick-or-treat bag, but if you're traveling with kids—or you're simply a serious candy enthusiast—you may want to bring a larger bag.
π Pro tip:
Don't feel like you have to hit every candy stop early in the evening. You can spread your trick-or-treating throughout the night. We only hit up about a third of the stops and had HEAPING bags of candy to take home.
And don't forget to check the party map for locations!
π 5. Meet Characters in Their Halloween Costumes
One of the biggest reasons families love Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is the special character lineup.
Some characters appear in special Halloween costumes, while others are characters you don't typically see during a regular day at Magic Kingdom.
Disney has confirmed several popular experiences for the 2026 party, including:
- π Mickey & Minnie in Halloween costumes
- π» Pooh and friends in adorable Halloween attire
- π΄☠️ Special character appearances
- π§♀️ Ariel & Eric
- π§♂️ Aladdin & Jasmine
- π Jack Skellington & Sally
Disney notes that character appearances can vary, so always check the party map and My Disney Experience app for the current lineup.
⭐ My advice?
If there is a rare character you've always wanted to meet, prioritize that character over a ride.
Wait times for these experiences can become very long.
π 6. Experience Space Mountain in Complete Darkness
Want a little more "scary" with your Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?
Head over to Space Mountain.
During the party, the attraction operates in pitch-black darkness, accompanied by spooky music.
You already know Space Mountain is fun.
Now imagine riding it when you can't see what's coming next! π» You all know I was NOT going to sign up for this one myself-- so I volunteered my eldest daughter. She LOVED it!
Disney specifically lists this as one of the attractions receiving a special Halloween experience during the party.
π« 7. Take a Spin on the Halloween Version of Mad Tea Party
The Mad Tea Party gets a Halloween makeover with special lighting effects during the party.
It's a fun attraction to experience after dark—and an especially good option if you're looking for something that the whole family can enjoy together.
And yes... You can still spin those teacups as much as you dare! π«π
My stomach could never, but my kids were ALL about it.
π 8. Stop by Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
Here's a fun one that can be easy to overlook.
During the Halloween party, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor becomes a trick-or-treating location.
So you can get some laughs AND some candy!
It's a great option for families who want something different from the traditional candy stops.
We were actually dressed as Monsters Inc. characters for MNSSHP this year and got special shout-outs from Mike Wazowski as we walked through... He even pointed out that my mom had a "2319" on her shirt!
π° 9. Try the Special Halloween Food
Let's be honest...
Disney + Halloween + specialty food = YES.
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party features exclusive Halloween-themed food and drinks throughout Magic Kingdom.
For 2026, Disney highlights offerings such as:
- π§♀️ Minnie Witch Hat at Cosmic Ray's Starlight CafΓ©
- π Bowl of Bones at The Friar's Nook
- π¦ Buzzard Wings at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & CafΓ©
There are also plenty of regular Magic Kingdom favorites available throughout the evening.
My recommendation: Don't spend your entire party standing in food lines. Pick a few must-try treats ahead of time and leave plenty of room for the entertainment and characters! Don't forget to hit up Disney Springs when you're not in the parks. They also have a lot of seasonal specialties to offer!
πΈ 10. Take ALL the Halloween Photos
The party is one of the best times of year to get family photos at Magic Kingdom.
You'll find:
π Halloween decorations
π» Special photo opportunities (several on Main Street alone)
𧑠Cinderella Castle glowing against the night sky
π¬ Kids with their trick-or-treat bags
π Mickey and Minnie in Halloween costumes
π Everyone dressed in their favorite costumes
And don't forget to take a family photo on Main Street, U.S.A.
Those are the photos you'll want to look back on years from now. Don't forget to pre-buy your Memory Maker with your vacation package--- it even includes your ride photos!
π 11. Dress Up!
One of the most fun parts of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is that guests can get into the Halloween spirit themselves.
Disney allows guests to wear costumes during the party as long as they follow Disney's costume guidelines.
Whether your family dresses as:
π§♀️ Disney villains
π§♀️ Disney princesses
π» Classic Halloween characters
π Mickey and Minnie
⭐ A favorite Disney movie
—you'll fit right in!
Just remember: Florida weather can still be warm in the fall, so choose costumes that you'll actually be comfortable wearing for several hours and won't hinder your ability to ride all the rides!
π️ 12. Shop for Exclusive Halloween Merchandise
If you're a Disney souvenir collector, don't skip the party merchandise!
Disney offers event-exclusive items that can include:
- π Halloween apparel
- π₯€ Drinkware
- π Home dΓ©cor
- π Pins
- π Accessories
- π Annual Passholder merchandise
Merchandise varies and is available while supplies last.
If there's something you absolutely love, don't wait until the last five minutes of the party to look for it!
π How to Make the Most of Your Party Night
There is a LOT to see and do at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
And here's the important part:
You probably won't be able to do everything.
That's okay!
Instead, decide what matters most to your family.
If you have little kids:
Prioritize:
π¬ Trick-or-treating
π Character meets
π Halloween costumes
π΅ Boo-To-You Parade
π Fireworks
π Halloween treats
If you have teens:
Prioritize:
π» Space Mountain in the dark
π§♀️ Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
π Rare characters
π Fireworks
π» Haunted Mansion area
π¬ Trick-or-treating
If you're traveling with adults:
Prioritize:
πΈ Specialty drinks
π° Halloween treats
π§♀️ Hocus Pocus
π Boo-To-You Parade
πΈ Halloween photos
π» Special attraction experiences
⏰ Don't Forget: You Can Enter Early!
One of my favorite planning tips is that party guests can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 p.m., even though the official party begins later in the evening. The lines were already filling up outside the gates by 3:00 p.m. on our party night. Be prepared to stand in the direct sunlight if you get there early (there's not much shade).
That gives you extra time to get into the park, enjoy a few attractions, grab food, take photos, and get ready for the party.
Since the party itself is limited to a few hours, those extra pre-party hours can be extremely valuable.
π Is Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Worth It?
For many families, absolutely!
If your family loves Disney, Halloween, special entertainment, and characters, this is one of the most unique nights you can experience at Magic Kingdom.
It's more than just trick-or-treating.
It's seeing Magic Kingdom transformed into a Halloween celebration, watching the Headless Horseman ride down the parade route, dancing along with the Sanderson Sisters, watching Jack Skellington take over the fireworks and meeting characters you may not encounter during a normal park day.
And honestly?
There's nothing quite like walking down Main Street, U.S.A. at night with your family, surrounded by Halloween decorations, Disney music, and everyone dressed in costume. π✨
We even got to ride Haunted Mansion EXACTLY at midnight and walk out in a near-empty park (a rare sight, indeed).
